#3; 1st week of CBT

So I’ve made it through my 1st week of CBT- Community Based Training, and it was an experience!  I live with a family, the Thatjanes and they named me Itumeleng which means ‘Be greatful’.  We have no running water and no electricity.  Bucket baths are a pain but peeing in a bucket is awesome; you guys should try it 🙂  The village is called Bokone (bo-ko-nay) and is beautiful.  The scenery is sik and the nighttime sky is unreal.  I can see the milky way…i can see every star- oh, it’s amazing!  Hopefully I will be able to post pics next week…not enough time today 😦  We go into the city everysaturday and today we are shopping for food as we will be cooking for ourselves now.  I’m excited to et on my own schedule and plus I have eaten bread and eggs all week with only some small variations. haha.  We still have Sesotho classes and let me tell you, it is hard!

The locals are so sweet, we should learn a thing or two from them.  The sad part is there seems to be little to no progress here and everyone seems to be sick- one way or another.  The food staples offer no nutrients.  Also there are a lot of animals (kind of mangy) everywhere and there is poop everywhere- the place smells great 🙂  The good thing is i have not gotten sick yet; it’s amazing the changes your body will allow. Another cool thing is tomorrow i get to learn how to make a clay pot!

Well, i guess that is all for now.  i have created a bit of a wish list so here goes:

Cigarettes (oh american cigs- marlboro light of course)

Pasta flovors (everything here has msg in it 😦 )

Crayons and coloring books

Gum

Gummy Candy- Agata, you know the type

P-nut m&ms

A reading light – mine broke 😦 already

A map of the world- big small…any kind so long as it is accurate

Seeds- all kinds; radishes, tomatoes, peppers, carrots…the works

Love you guys and miss you all and running water and flushing toilets:(

Hi Irena!

We are glad to hear you are doing well and adjusting! The bathroom situation would freak me out. I’m used to the luxuries of the US that we all take for granted. Happy belated Birthday! We think about you often!!!! Will you be at this address for a while? We’ll get a care package for you soon! Take care! We miss you!!!! Love you!!!!! Maja, Dana & Sebastian

Hey Hey! I hope you are doing well. We are glad you seem to be enjoying yourself so far. The peeing in the bucket thing sounds fantastic! but I think we will stick to the toilets..haha. We are going to send what we can on your wish list (not sure if smokes through the mail is allowed yet) so be on the lookout for a package from a ‘catholic group.’ Lots of love…Jimmy and Agata
